Spence, Andrew, and I left his place around 9:30 to meet a few more of their friends at the bar. There we enjoyed a few rounds of drinks, a round of pear shots, and at about 11:30 we headed over to his friend Mike's place to watch the game.
Pear shots!
It was really cool to go to Superbowl party while in Italy! While I'm not a huge football fan, I felt grateful that for this portion of my journey---I was with fellow Americans and could enjoy this big event. At Mike's, the 15 or so of us enjoyed the grilled brats, burgers, and of course-booze!
The boys
As far as watching the game though...getting an American signal here is not an easy thing to do. It was actually a little painful to try and watch the game as the men fought with the computer to make the screen stop cutting in and out. I felt like I was listening to a skipping CD but regardless of the quality--we all watched! I feel asleep around 2 am sitting on the couch. While I did deserve to be made fun of for passing out...you also couldn't blame me either as I was a little bit bored just sitting there AND it was late. Around 3:30, Rachel asked me if I wanted to join her and another gal (both are Navy wives) in trying to find an open bar---I immediatley jumped up and left! LOL
The three of us ladies walked up and down the streets looking for somewhere to go (no luck, everything had just closed) and chatted about their life in Italy. I woke up from my nap pretty quickly as we walked those beautiful and quiet cobblestone streets. I tried to lap up every beautiful image of this town and all of their thoughts on living in it. I find this area so rich and interesting---it's intoxicating! We eventually gave up our quest, Spence came and picked me up from the gal's apartment and we headed back.
Spence and I got home to his place at 4:30 am this morning, I bought my plane ticket to Sicily (I leave tonight) and then finally went to bed at 5:00am.
I wonder what country I might be in for the Superbowl next year...maybe Spain, Germany, or France?!?! One can only hope.... :)
What an amazing experience you're having. Sicily?! WOW! BTW, read my blog when you get a chance.

Everything sounds so cool - It sounds like you are getting very rare experiences that will never be forgotten.
