I am in Roma with Courtney and Lauren.
Right now, we are a little bit of a binge...ok, maybe a really big binge. We are staying in a fancy hotel in downtown Roma, costing us 170£ a night. We are going out and having full course meals. We are taking taxis instead of riding the metro. We are throwing away clothes, mailing others back...buying shoes, skirts, coats, jewerly, tops, and leggings. Without a doubt, my credit card will be maxed out upon my return. Over $12k in credit debt, I just can't wait....LOL! It's ok, money is just paper. You only live once and I'm enjoying every beautiful second of my momentary break from being a dirty hippie!
Last night, I wore nylons, knee length boots, and a PEA COAT! Listening to my boots clack down the stairs, pulling the nylons up over my legs, wearing a very tight jean skirt (because I am a whole lot thicker these days! LOL)....was priceless! And while I am presently back in baggy jeans, a pub crawl t-shirt, and pretty much looking like a boy....I will be doing some more shopping this afternoon, I am going to get dolled up, and then we'll hit the town looking better than ever!
I was supposed to go back to Milano tomorrow and catch a flight to Prague on Thursday....yeah, that's not going to happen. I can't separate myself from these two women--we really are sisters and are pretty much inseperable.
Yesterday, we were talking about how will be parting ways on Wednesday...and Court and Lauren begged me to come with them to Napoli for 3 days and then on to Calabria. It hit me when we got back to the hotel last night, that while Prague always be there...the three of us traveling in Italy won't be. So at 2:00AM I ran in the room and annouced that I'd finish the rest of my trip with them. We then proceeded to hug, jump up and down, and profess our undying love. You'd think you were watching a corny teen chick flick movie with the three of us jumping like that. I won't lie...we are pretty ridiculous---but I love it.
Traveling is not about the sightseeing, the churches, the monuments. Traveling is about the experiences you take away from your journey. Yesteray, we spent most of the afternoon in Vatican City. I saw St. Peter's Basilica, the Sistine Chapel, the Vatican Museum...all of which was impressive, great, and wonderful. But do you know what I enjoyed most about Vatican City? Sitting on cobblestone, eating pitsachios, listening to music, and talking with my sisters. That is the memory I will walk away with and I couldn't be happier about it.
Ciao for now...

Calm down Jennifer...it's more than paper, it will be a heavy ball and chain for years to come and you'll miss out on opportunites in the future because of the debt. Hope that doesn't put a damper on your trip...Dad
ReplyDeleteI gotta agree with your dad...you know those pilots are pretty smart guys. :-) I can see how you wanna make the most of your trip, but credit in particular can totally hang with ya years after the fun has passed...Aaron
